This video was made during my undergraduate fine art degree; at a preliminary stage in the project which later resulted in 'Scream If You Wanna Go Faster'. It emulates a certain genre of mass-produced, algorithmically optimised kid’s YouTube videos. These garner views by incorporating a random mishmash of popular words, phrases, characters and topics resulting in nonsensical storylines and uncanny imagery.
This was one of my first experiences with puppet making and performing, filming and video editing techniques. Although my techniques could have been refined this was a very useful learning experience.
'Peppa Pig Uses Daddy's Computer' - Making Of
I created several puppets for this project using Youtube tutorials as guidance. this was also my first experience of patterning with foam.
the filming process was done singlehandedly in my bedroom or with the assistance of my Dad and a couple friends. I learnt a lot about staging and lighting during this process. I used a lot of chromakeying which required specific lighting techniques to eliminate shadows and refection.
a lot of the effects were done in post which required becoming familiar with editing software. through this process I learnt about libraries of free resources, sound effects, animations etc, available on the internet and also experimented with recording my own sound effects.
