Sporocorpse (2022) - Making Of

Inspired by the aesthetics of Victorian medical equipment, This piece explores my experiences with mental illness and medical mistreatment. The mushrooms reference parasitic cordyceps fungi which infect and coopts the muscular system of insects, leading it to its death.

This was my first experience with body casting and allowed me to experiment with casting multiple different body parts. The mushrooms were originally modelled in clay, moulds were made from plaster and then cast in latex.
